October 2023 Reading Recap

After not reading anything but a few of my own books I needed to reformat, I was able to take a break from writing and get some reading done.

First up was One Steamy Night by Brenda Jackson. I absolutely love her books. This one was from one of the Westmoreland series. I wrote a review on my blog.

Next was If Only For One Night by Nicole Falls. This had a bit of a paranormal element to it that I really enjoyed. It wasn’t so heavy that it bugged me. I dare say it was the perfect amount of paranormal energy. It wasn’t your typical love story and not your textbook HEA/HFN ending. Still, it was a wonderful story.

Then I read A Merry Invitation by A.C. Author. Really enjoyed this book. Slay was just looking for one night with Willow. Of course, you know that isn’t how it worked out.

The next book I read was Hostile Takeover by CCJ. This book put me in a chokehold from the first few pages and did not let me go until I finished it. Orion had audacity, a lot of audacity. His and Nalani’s love story was amazing. For a moment, I wondered if they were going to get to happily ever after or if she was going to stab him in his sleep. Outstanding book.

I jumped into the Baes of Juneteenth series next. I read Mr. Big Stuff by Aja first. It was a very good story. It was my first book by her and I am looking forward to reading more. Then I read Mr. Play for Keeps by Kimmie Ferrell. Really enjoyed that story.

I went back to the Six Gems series, a series that I’m really enjoying so far. I read Her One Night Consequence by Yahrah St. John. I was looking forward to this book and it did not disappoint. This was a surprise pregnancy done very well. The third-act breakup didn’t even bother me in this book. It was just really well done.

I finished off the month reading two shorts by Nicole Falls. They are part of a series she is doing. The first was called The Festival. It was a super cute best friend’s brother story. Then I read The Getaway. This was a peek into an established couple’s love story. I really enjoyed it. Can’t wait for the other stories in the series.

That was it for October. Let’s see if I’ll be able to take a break from writing in November.
