November 2023 Reading Recap

I have found a way to read more books. I got a second job and I can listen to audiobooks while working. This has brought me so much joy this past month. I was able to reach my yearly reading goal early. I knew all of those audiobooks I was hoarding on my Audible account would come in handy one day.

I read several Audible Originals this month. I like them because most of them are short and I can get through them in one shift or less. Short romances are my jam. The ones I read were:
Sun of a Beach – Mia Sosa
The Wedding Set Up – Sonali Dev
Coming Home – Kennedy Ryan
A Walk in the Park – Rebekah Witherspoon
The Set Up – Falguni Kothari
Some People Have Real Problems – Brit Bennett
Let It Snow – Michelle Stimpson
All I Want for Christmas – Michelle Stimpson
Perfect Play – G.S. Carr
I really enjoyed each of these books. They all gave me the warm and fuzzies. Super cute stories with great characters.

I also have a thing for autobiographies. I especially love if the author is the one who narrates the book. Started off with You Got Anything Stronger by Gabrielle Union. I really enjoyed her first book and this second book did not disappoint. The stories she told were great. You could really see her growth since the first book.

Then I decided to read about the Smith family. I started with Will by Will Smith. Really enjoyed it. A lot of funny moments and good insight into his life. He is a very interesting man. I especially liked how he was able to own up to his way of thinking not necessarily being the best way to think. After I finished his book, I read Worthy by Jada Pinkett-Smith. She had meditations after each chapter, which I liked. She has dealt with a whole lot in her life. Got a better understanding of why she is the way she is. Really enjoyed her story. I hope she continues on her path to healing.

My last autobiography of the month was The Meaning of Mariah by Mariah Carey. I absolutely love her and was excited to finally get into her book. She didn’t give all the details but she gave just enough for you to get the point and I liked that about her book.

I had one book I needed to review. After I signed up for it, I saw that it was labeled a “clean & uplifting romance”. That almost made me want to send it back. I hate when romance novels are labeled “clean”. I previously passed on reviewing a book by this author so I decided to give her a chance. I’m glad I did. Twins for the Holidays by Jacquelin Thomas was such a good book. Gave me all the warm and fuzzies that I require from my romance novels. Check out my review here.

That’s it for November. I have loaded up my Audible library with a bunch of books that I am excited to get into. There is a handful of non-fiction in there as well as some romance. Check in with me next month to see what I read.
