Another wonderful month of reading. These are the books and series I enjoyed this month!
Cavanaugh Island Series by Rochelle Alers

Magnolia Drive
Cherry Lane
Each book in this series was wonderful. The characters were great and so were the love stories.
Bennett Family Series by Brenda Jackson
A Family Reunion
The Savvy Sistahs
The Sweetest Taboo
What a Woman Wants
Her Little Black Book
Ready For Love
The Second Time Around
The Bennetts’ Wedding
The Bennetts’ Christmas
The Bennett family and Master’s family gave for really good stories. Each love story was wonderful. I enjoyed learning more about these families. This was a great series.
The Davenports Series by Krystal Marquis
The Davenports
More Than This
This was a really good historical set in Chicago. The first book left me wondering and the second book wrapped everything up for me. Here is my review of the first book. This is my review of the second book. Very good series.
The Playa’s Series by Brenda Jackson
The Playa’s Handbook
No More Playas
At Long Last
The Montgomery family had some interesting stories. This series was so good. It tied into the Bennett family series. I enjoyed these books a lot.
Love in Bloom by Lucy Eden
Emma and Dan were super cute! Emma inherited a farm from her grandparents. Dan runs the farm. When she loses her job and breaks up with her boyfriend, she heads to the farm to see if she can be successful there. I enjoyed this book a lot. Here is my review.
A Legend in the Baking by Jamie Wesley
August is Sloane’s older brother’s best friend, teammate, and business partner. She quit her job and now needs help getting a new job. He goes viral while telling off some jerks who were in his cupcake shop. This is the second book in a really good series. I’m ready for book three. Here is my review.
Topaz by Beverly Jenkins
Dixon Wildhorse is everything! Kate is a reporter and she gets in trouble while working on a story. Dix comes to rescue her because her father gives him her hand in marriage because he stole and sold Dix’s cattle. This was a wild story. Dix was an amazing character. I loved Kate as well. I loved this book so much!
Predators Series by Christina C. Jones
No Longer Afraid
Raised by Wolves
Tati and Onyx had a great love story. She was attracted to him but didn’t trust him from the beginning. He tried his best not to fall for her but it was inevitable. This series had me in a chokehold. A lot of action. A lot of twists and turns.
Sipping & Swooning by Karmen Lee
Alice and Janelle met at the club where Alice works. Then they meet again at Janelle’s sister’s wedding. This was a short and cute little Sapphic story. I enjoyed it a lot.
The Touré Security Group Series by Patricia Sargeant
Down to the Wire
Her Private Security Detail
Second-Chance Bodyguard
The Touré brothers inherited a security business from their parents. Each of these stories was a wonderful balance of romance and suspense. This was my first time reading this author but it won’t be my last. Here is my review of the third book.
A Cross to Bare by Jsin Graham
Roni went on a Halloween adventure. Her stay in a spooky bed and breakfast was full of surprises. This was a spicy short book. I really enjoyed the audio version. Ready to read more from this author.
In Bed with Her Boss by Brenda Jackson
D’marcus is Opal’s cranky boss. He is really cranky because he can’t fight his attraction to her. I enjoyed this story a lot. There are other books about her sisters and I think I want to check them out as well.
A Valentine for Christmas by Reese Ryan
Julian and Chandra had a nice story. They met on a plane but didn’t exchange information. Then he saves her after she is in a car accident. She sees him again when she goes to the town doctor, which happens to be his new job. She then pretends to be his girlfriend so that the ladies in town will stop throwing themselves at him. Pretend becomes real. She doesn’t want anything serious because she is leaving town to go back to her job and he is younger than her. But they end up falling for each other. I definitely want to check out the next two books in this series.
How We Do It by Jericho Brown
This is a great craft book filled with essays by Black writers. There were some good exercises in it. The advice was great. I listened to the audio but will revisit my paperback copy in the future.
Wild Sweet Love by Beverly Jenkins
Teresa July was a character I’m glad got her own love story. I was introduced to her in her brother’s books. She is a wild and wonderful character. Madison Nance is the son of the woman who took her in after she got out of jail. The butt heads immediately. He is drawn to her instantly but the physical attraction happens once she recovers from her time in prison. This story was outstanding. I loved seeing characters I had been introduced to before.
It was a very good reading month. Not sure if I will get to as many books in December but I am certain that I will reach my goal for the year.
