My Love of Period Films

I just finished watching Mr. Malcolm’s List and I absolutely loved it.

This was such a wonderful love story. I especially liked that the main character was a dark-skinned Black man. I instantly fell in love with this movie. It will definitely be added to my rotation of comfort period romances.

Here are some of my favorites:

What’s not to love about Sense and Sensibility? The way Colonel Brandon loved Marianne gets me every single time.

This version of Pride & Prejudice is my favorite for the overall feel of the movie. It sucks you in. The scenes were done wonderfully. It never fails to put me in a romantic mood.

This version of Pride & Prejudice is my favorite because it is longer and I get so much more of the story.

I honestly can’t choose between the two versions. I typically watch them both together.

Emma is such a good story. The way all her schemes almost completely backfired on her. It, of course, all works out in the end.

Little Women is definitely a favorite. Not the same period as the other films but I still group it with them. The only thing about this movie is that I get irrationally angry every time I get to the part where Amy burns Jo’s manuscript. I would have killed her immediately.

There are several more movies that I group with these that I enjoy. I have quite a collection. But these are my favorites.
