June 2025 Reading Recap

June was a little bit better than May, but not by much. I found myself reading a few of my own books. I enjoyed several ARCs that were on my review list. I also got through a series I enjoyed a lot. All in all, it was a good reading month.

Plus Size Player by Danielle Allen
This was a really good book. Nina was a social media influencer with a very active social life. She didn’t want to admit it but one of those men was her favorite. Then it turns out he is the CEO of a brand she is doing work for. I need to go back and read the first book in this series.

Breakfast In Bed by Rochelle Alers
Tonya and Gage had very difficult previous marriages. They are attracted to each other but don’t exactly hit it off the first time they met. I enjoyed watching these two fall in love.

Losing Sight by Tati Richardson
Magic Glasses. This book had a hint of paranormal to it but it was so lightly done. I enjoyed Tanika and Gideon’s love story. I’m glad I finally read this book. It had been on my list since it came out.

The Friend by Turtleberry
I listened to my own book in preparation of releasing the audiobook. I enjoy this story a lot because of the way DeeDee and Jabari met. I am very pleased with the audio and can’t wait for readers to listen to it.

On Break by Turtleberry
This is another book that I am releasing on audio. The narrator did a great job. Ayanna and Zack are favorites of mine. I am tempted to revisit them.

A Silken Thread by Brenda Jackson
I kept borrowing this book and not getting to it. I am so glad I finally got myself together to listen because this jumped up to be one of my favorite Brenda Jackson books. There were a lot of layers to this story. This was three love stories in one. It gave me all the feels. I had to order it in paperback because I needed it on my bookshelf. This book definitely wins my Sexual Chocolate Award.

Room Service by Rochelle Alers
Cameron wanted Jasmine the moment he saw her and made sure that she agreed to go out with him. Neither one of them wanted to get married but she ends up getting pregnant. Cameron quickly steps up and does what he needs to do to secure his family. Loved this book.

Sexual Healing by Brenda Jackson
This story took me back to a series I read a while ago. Reese and Leah had a difficult love story and I was so happy that they were able to get to their happily ever after.

The Divorcétante by Mia Heintzelman
Ebony divorces her husband at the beginning of this book. Then she embarks on a journey of self discovery. In the process she is forced to work with an ex-boyfriend, Lincoln. She also has to deal with her ex-mother-in-law while planning her best friend’s sister’s wedding to her ex-brother-in-law. This book is a whole lot of drama. I enjoyed it a lot. This one wins my Hercules Hercules Award.

The Bridal Suite by Rochelle Alers
Nydia and Lamar’s story was the icing on the cake that was this series. He was a single father and she wasn’t sure she was ready for that responsibility. This was a really good love story.

When Javi Dumped Mari by Mia Sosa
Javi and Mari are best friends. They were both attracted to each other but decided it was best to remain friends. One day they cross the line, but still decide to just be friends. Then Mari gets engaged right when Javi is wanting to take a chance on a relationship with her. This book was fun. It was funny and I enjoyed it a lot.

Happily Ever After? by Turtleberry
I had to reformat this book to publish it at other e-book retailers, so that meant I got to read it again. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed Joey and Ty’s story. They were best friends with completely different ideas of what their happily ever after would look like.

Lena’s Chance At Love by Turtleberry
I read this book simply because I wanted to revisit these characters. Lena and Kareem are attracted to each other. The problem is that he is several years younger than her and good friends with her younger brother. I enjoyed going on the journey again with Lena as she found her happily ever after.

Behind Frenemy Lines by Zen Cho
Kriya and Charles had a few bad run-ins over the years. Then they end up sharing an office when she switches to his firm with her boss. This was a good book. I enjoyed it.

I’ve got a busier schedule at my part time job so that means I’ll get to listen to more audiobooks. I’m hoping that July will mean getting to enjoy a lot more books than the past two months. We’ll see what happens.
