Sanaa was a type A, stressed out, over achieving Black woman who also happened to have founded a web app that was focused on helping women like her. Too bad she wasn’t actually helping herself.
She ends up stuck in Puerto Rico when a hurricane reroutes her flight home from her cousin’s destination wedding. She thought going to the wedding was what would take her out of her routine.
Ezra ended up getting the room that Sanaa had also purchased. He took one look at her and offered to share it with her since there were no other ones available. He was a burnt out photographer just coming back from a shoot.
What followed was a few days of both of them letting go and really leaning into finding a sense of peace. This story was very sensual and you could feel the way Ezra cared for Sanaa. He was very intentional in what he was doing. He could see her issues without her even telling him and he addressed it. Then there was the way she helped heal him without even knowing she was doing it.
The only thing I didn’t like about the story was that I didn’t get to find out what happened with them. I can only guess. But the ending was still good. This was a novella and you shouldn’t expect to find out everything you would if you were reading a longer novel. There was still a happy ending and that will have to do.
