I got an e-book and audio ARC from Net Galley in exchange for a honest review.
I started with the e-book and stopped, not sure if I was in the mood for a marriage in trouble story. That is not a trope that I gravitate towards. Then I tried the audiobook and was glad I didn’t give up on the story.
Courtney is a WNBA player who just won a championship. Sasha is her wife. They are having some difficulties in their young marriage. There is a big disconnect between them. They both want the same thing, to be together, but they are going about it the wrong way.
Then Courtney falls down the stairs and fractures her wrist. That means she can’t play in the league overseas and has to stay home. That forces her and Sasha to have to deal with what has gone wrong in their marriage.
There were a lot of missteps by both of them. I liked seeing each of them work through their issues. I do wish that they would have went to therapy. I sincerely hope that it is a part of their future.
This book was spicy in all the right places. I enjoyed seeing characters that I had met before in the first book in the series. I look forward to more books to come.
The audiobook was well done. The narrators did a good job. Dual narration is a favorite of mine. I was glad for two different female narrators.
