I got a copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
Braelyn is a coffee shop owner who is struggling to keep her doors open. Jeremiah is a hotel chain executive who comes in for a cup of coffee one day, sees her, and is instantly attracted. He asks her out but she shoots him down even though she finds him attractive too.
Jeremiah finds out that he needs to get married in order to get a promotion to CEO of his company, something he has been working hard to get for a very long time. His mind immediately goes to Braelyn and he tries again to get her to go out with him. But on their first date he fumbles by asking her to marry him. He wants to help her keep her coffee shop while having her help him get his promotion.
These two had chemistry from the first moment they met. It was great watching them fall in love with each other when that was supposed to be something that they were avoiding. Jeremiah wanted to give her the world from the beginning. It was hard for her not to fall for him.
The things I didn’t like about this book were few but significant enough. It was told in the present tense and that really threw me off. This is just a personal preference of mine. It always feels incredibly awkward to use past tense words when telling a story in present tense. That bugged me while reading this. Also, there were parts of the book that the author hinted at or glossed over. Small plot lines that just got lost and were noticeable. Both weren’t a really big deal to me but enough to affect my experience with this book.
Four star read.⭐⭐⭐⭐
