Revenge of the Sunshine by Jackie Lau

I got a copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoy Jackie Lau’s books. This one was no exception. It was delightful.

Zoe walks in on her boyfriend and best friend having sex in the apartment she shares with her best friend. She decides to take her boyfriend’s phone. Then she comes up with a plan for revenge.

Zoe finds Bennett, her boyfriend’s brother who he isn’t very close with. Then she asks him to fake date her to make his brother uncomfortable. To her shock, the extra starched Bennett not only agrees but invites her to live with him so she isn’t couch surfing. It was supposed to be for a month. He feels badly about her situation. He also thinks fake dating will get his parents off his back about his love life.

So we’ve got fake dating and forced proximity. It was also a slow burn, which I typically don’t like. But I was very invested in these characters and wanted to see this story through til the end. When things heated up, they got really spicy. They tried the whole “this’ll just be about sex” thing that never, ever works.

I really enjoyed this book. Five star read.
