Journey to 50 – Spotlight – Wanderlust India

So, the opening scene of this book came to me. I wrote it. Then it sat for a really long time, a year or two, before the characters told me the rest of the story.

I am a firm believer in letting the characters tell you the story you are supposed to write. I developed this habit very early in my writing journey and it hasn’t failed me yet. Every single time I try to switch things up and do things my way, the characters remind me that it is their story to tell. I am not in control. I am just the scribe. I polish it up, but I don’t dictate what happens.

India was a wild one. I didn’t expect her story to go the way it went. I knew she wasn’t going to end up with that guy she was moving with. Then she revealed her story to me and I was giddy. Ahmad was just want she needed.

I enjoyed writing this book a lot. I love writing sisters. I knew when I got halfway through this book that each sister was going to have her own book. India was the start of it all.
